The Vigala Church pulpit was fashioned at about the same time as the independent master Christian Ackermann was occupied with carving the figural and ornamental d\u00e9cor of the Vigala Church retable.<\/p>\n
Judging by the types and cutting lines of the statues on the pulpit\u2019s corpus and sounding board, Ackermann did not carve the pulpit\u2019s sculptures. Most of them were carved according to drawings used in the master\u2019s workshop or by one of the master\u2019s assistants alongside the master.<\/p>\n
Sometimes the journeyman who carved the pulpit\u2019s figures followed the master\u2019s example exactly, at other times he followed the example more freely.
