The reason for this anomaly is the circumstance that by the end of the 19<sup>th<\/sup> century, the statue\u2019s hands had gone missing and were replaced by the hands of Christ the Invincible, which had been taken down from the retable\u2019s summit. Thus one of John the Baptist\u2019s hands acquired two elbows, and Christ\u2019s victory flag ended up in his other hand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The figure of John the
